Đại học bang Washington (Mỹ) có chương trình DO-IT (Disabilities, Opportunities, Internetworking, and Technology) để hỗ trợ việc giáo dục và đào tạo người khuyết tật, rất có ý nghĩa. Chương trình này có vẻ hoạt động tích cực những năm 1990s – 2000s, họ để lại các tài liệu và DVD hướng dẫn:

Hình như một ý tưởng chủ đạo là sử dụng internet để giảm chênh lệch cơ hội giữa người bình thường và người khuyết tật: những người khuyết tật thiếu khả năng di chuyển thì vẫn làm một số công việc sử dụng công nghệ thông tin qua internet được.
